The eighteenth unique artistic bench, titled “Knowledge”, was created by university graduate designer Monika Lovše Rošker. It is located in the park near 3rd Maribor Gymnasium on Gosposvetska cesta 4. Made of weathered steel and stone, the bench was officially unveiled on 20 September 2023.
Monika Lovše Rošker studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana, and is the recipient of several awards, including the Prešeren Award for students, the Red Dot Design Award, the Big See Product Design Award 2021, and the German Innovation Award ’21.
The story of the Bench
The three benches are designed as birds with spread wings, which, upon closer inspection, are actually open books. They symbolize students who, upon receiving knowledge at the gymnasium, take flight into life on the wings of their learning.
