The creator of the second artistic bench is architect Lana Topolovec. She named it “The Bench of Play, Laughter, and Connection”, as it stands in front of the Prežihov Voranc Primary School in Maribor. It is made of wood and was ceremoniously unveiled on 22 September 2015.
Lana Topolovec graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ljubljana. She was selected as a collaborator on a multidisciplinary project at Stanford University in California and is the recipient of several architectural awards.
Story of the Bench
The bench is placed in a school environment, which is why its form is dynamic and its tiered design represents past, present, and future students. The tiered structure also adapts to various heights of children and others who sit on it, allowing for different forms of creative seating. For example, it can even transform into a play area.
