The thirteenth unique artistic bench, named “Bench of Generations”, is located in the Tabor district at Park mladih 8, in front of the Secondary School of Design Maribor. Its creators are Sašo Žolek, MSc in Architecture; Davor Fistrić, Bachelor of Architecture; and Goran Piršić, Bachelor of Architecture. The bench is made from recycled concrete. The official unveiling took place on 23 October 2018.
The young architects Sašo Žolek, Goran Piršić, and Davor Fistrić graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, and Architecture at the University of Maribor. All three are part of the innovative and creative team at Styria Arhitektura, a firm based in Maribor.
The story of the Bench
The name “Bench of Generations” was chosen by the creators because the bench is located at a site previously worked on by their professor, Dr. Janko J. Zadravec. The design concept incorporates a low wall that was already present, and the bench, with its exceptional dimensions and weight (over 40 tons), was dedicated to the students of both current and future generations.
