The creator of the sixth unique artistic bench is academic sculptor Dr. Marjan Drev. It is located at Slomškov Square in Maribor and is named “The Two of Us”. The bench is made of marble. The ceremonial unveiling took place on 5 April 2016.
Dr. Marjan Drev is known for his public sculptures and monuments, including those of Bishop Anton Martin Slomšek in Maribor and Lendava, St. Stephen in Teharje, and Monsignor Lojze Kozar in Odranci. He has designed several stone fountains, he also works with ceramics, and holds lectures.
Story of the Bench
The creator started from the awareness that every sculptural form can be complemented by another form, creating a harmonious whole. This means they coexist together. The bench with a soft curve contrasts with the bench with an angular twist. Both symbolize the intertwining of differences into a single entity and carry the message “A pair is more than just two”.
