Thomas A. Lindsey was born on 25 March, 1941, in Butler, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Pittsburgh. At first, he studied business administration at the University of Indiana, then architecture from 1962 to 1964 at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Kentucky. In 1967 and 1968, he continued his studies at the Kansas City Art Institute and the Carnegie Mellon University. From 1970 to 1983, he taught at several American higher-education institutions, including the Kansas City Art Institute, the Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, and the Syracuse University School of Architecture. Since 1965, he has held solo and group exhibitions. He has participated in numerous design and architectural projects, and from 1977 to 1981 he won several competitions for memorial statues in various places in the USA. In his work, he emphasises the symbolic message of wind and solar energy. When designing architecture, he strives to apply ecologically friendly solar energy. He has received numerous awards for his work. He lives and works on the Guemes Island in the USA.
